New standards like SOTIF arising from the development of ADAS / ADS need to be aligned with existing and established methods, processes and tools in companies. Systems Engineering (e.g. ISO15288) provides the right framework. Here we will summarize some key aspects in this talk. In addition to that, efficiency in terms of a model-centric (instead of text-centric) approach is essential. That is, we need to connect SOTIF to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). In the 2nd part of the talk we will highlight special aspects SOTIF in the context of MBSE and outline how to address this in practice. In this session, you will learn more about
Since 2022, Carsten has been Manager for System Architecture and Technologies at Valeo Central R&D focusing on strategic aspects of System Architecture, related methods and tools (e.g. MBSE) and new technologies and standards. In this role, he is involved in several innovative projects in the context of ADAS / AD as well as the deployment of ISO21448 in Valeo. 2017 to 2021 Carsten was Systems Engineering Manager in the central sector Valeo Group Electronics Expertise and Development Services. He was managing a worldwide team of experts focusing on the development and deployment of Systems Engineering processes and methods, project reviews and internal technical consulting. From 2009 to 2017, Carsten worked at Robert Bosch GmbH in different positions in Corporate Research on ADAS and in Transmission Control systems. Since the beginning of his career in the automotive industry, he has always had a strong focus on Systems Engineering for ADAS / AD and functional Safety / SOTIF with several publications / conference talks in this area. Carsten has graduated in Mathematics and Engineering Cybernetics from University of Stuttgart and he holds a PhD in Mathematics from Humboldt University in Berlin. Before starting in the automotive industry, he spent several years in Research on applied mathematics at different Institutes in France and Germany.
