Case Study – Developing an Assurance Case Argument for Highly Automated Vehicles

  • There is no single standard the adequately addresses the risk associated with using highly automated vehicles
  • There is therefore a need for the developers of such vehicles to provide an argument for why they believe their vehicles are acceptably safe
  • MISRA are developing a set of guidelines for the development of automotive safety case arguments
  • The purpose of this talk is to propose the application of the principles of these guidelines to arguing for the safety of highly automated vehicles.
